Welcome to Lake View High School's Celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month!

This WikiSpace was created by Lake View's Latin American History class. Hispanic Heritage Month is to celebrate the history, culture, and contributions of persons with heritage from Spain, Mexico, Central America, South America, or the Caribbean. Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15th to October 15th. This time period is significant to Latin America because Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, and Chile celebrate their independence during the same thirty days.

Each of us have picked a Hispanic that we believe serves as a positive role model and great contributors to our society in seven different areas: Art/Literature, Fashion, Music, Performing Arts, Politics/Government, Science/Medicine, and Sports.

We hope you will learn a lot about the contributions Hispanics have made to our society and feel inspired to make some positive contributions too. Lake View High School students can also gain service learning credit! You will need to take the quiz at the end. Follow the instructions on our Service Learning page.
